Security researcher Kyriakos Economou has discovered a new vulnerability with AMD CPUs that allows any user to gain access to passwords and launch different attacks. This not only gives them access to sensitive information but also lets them download it through certain Windows memory pages.
AMD is now instructing users to download the latest AMD PSP drivers through Windows Update or manually from their support page.
You can do so by heading over to AMD Drivers and Support Page. The support page can detect your hardware automatically but you can also search for your products manually. Simply locate your chipset model for your motherboard through the drop-down menu and click the “Submit” button.
From here, download the AMD chipset drivers for your particular model. This will give you a zip file that you can extract to get an installer file. Once it’s activated, your system can auto-detect the chipset you are using. Make sure the AMD PSP Driver is selected and then click install. You will also need to restart your computer after the installation.
