The next-gen 5G network is still in its infancy and has barely launched in developed countries, however, it seems like Vivo is one step ahead and is already working on a 6G smartphone.
The phone maker has filed a patent application with the European Union Intellectual Property Office for the first 6G patent. Vivo is one of the leading firms in 6G research and development, participating in the industry’s B5G/6G seminar.
While the patent is for a 6G logo, it shows that the company is already working on the technology for the future. Vivo is known for innovation in the smartphone industry making some of the thinnest phones, pioneering pop-up selfie cameras and in-display fingerprint readers and recently a phone with no buttons or holes.
The company has also launched its first flagship 5G smartphone Vivo NEX 3 which holds the record for the world’s best-performing smartphone as per Antutu Benchmarks.
However, this phone hasn’t been launched in Pakistan yet as currently, no telecom operator offers 5G in the country. It merits mentioning here that Zong recently tested its 5G capabilities in a public demonstration, but we are yet to see when this technology will actually be available in Pakistan.
