Chinese phone maker Vivo and South Korean tech giant Samsung are joining hands to host an event dubbed the Vivo x Samsung 5G AI chip press conference.
The collaboration makes sense because Vivo is about to unveil a new 5G capable smartphone and Samsung has recently announced the Exynos 980 chipset with built-in 5G. It is likely that Vivo will announce its upcoming X30 smartphone featuring the Exynos 980 SoC.
This chipset is equipped with ARM’s CPU cores including two Cortex-A77 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. Since it has a built-in 5G modem, the chip is cheaper to produce and is also more power-efficient. This will give the Vivo X30 an upper hand against the competition. The GPU on this SoC is the Mali-G76 MP5.
The expected specifications of Vivo X30 are:
- Display: 6.5-inch AMOLED, 90Hz screen refresh rate
- 5G capability
- Quad primary camera setup : 64MP + 8MP + 13MP + 2MP
- Front camera: 32MP
- Battery: 4500 mAh with 22.5W-33W fast charging
- Storage: 128 GB/256 GB UFS 2.1
As for design, earlier renders have shown a notch-less display with the camera setup placed in the upper left corner at the back.
The Vivo X30 is expected to be announced tomorrow at a media conference in Beijing. It is expected to go on sale in December.
