Xiaomi has previously expressed intentions to become one of the first company’s to launch a smartphone powered by the recently announced Snapdragon 865 chipset.
Now, in a more recent update, the company’s chairman and CEO, Lei Jun, has announced that the Mi 10 featuring Snapdragon 865 will launch no later than the first quarter of this year.
He further added that the company aims to continue its trend of powering its phones with Qualcomm’s flagship chipsets. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 was powered by the Snapdragon 845 and the Mi 9 along with a handful of others featured the Snapdragon 855.
He said that Xiaomi has sold over 427 million smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets. He also revealed that they are aiming to sell more than 10 5G powered handsets this year.
As for the Mi 10, the phone is expected to feature a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with up to 120Hz screen refresh rate. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset with 5G compatibility.
It is rumored to offer 12GB RAM and storage variants that go as far as 512GB. There will be a 108-megapixel camera unit at the back alongside an additional 48MP sensor, a 12MP sensor, and an 8MP sensor.
The battery compartment will come with a 4500 mAh cell equipped with 48W fast charging on the base model and 65W on the Pro variant.
