Xiaomi finally launched the RedmiBook 13, RedmiBook 14, and RedmiBook 16 in China yesterday. Featuring the Ryzen 5 4500U and Ryzen 7 4700U, these laptops are equipped with up to 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD yet come at a reasonable price.
Design and Display
The new RedmiBooks have been built around a modern design with thin bezels and a high screen-to-body ratio. However, as a result, the laptops don’t come with a webcam around the display.
Apart from the screen size, the RedmiBooks share similar specifications as far as the display is concerned. All three feature 1080p resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate, and 100% Adobe RGB color coverage.
The 13-inch and 14-inch models provide 250 nits of brightness while in the 16-inch model, this jumps to 300 nits.
As for the innards, the laptops come with differing specifications.
RedmiBook 13 is powered by AMD Ryzen 5 4500U topped with up to 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD. To go up to the 1 TB SSD, you will have to invest in the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U powered RedmiBook 13.
As far as the RedmiBook 14 and RedmiBook 16 are concerned, both come in the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U and AMD Ryzen 7 4700U models with up to 16 GB of RAM. However, the maximum SSD capacity available is 512 GB.
According to Xiaomi, the Ryzen processors will cater to consumers needing more horsepower.
Additionally, all laptops come with support for dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. They are equipped with two USB Type-C ports, one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port, one USB 2.0 port, one HDMI 1.4 port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack along with a fingerprint scanner and a pair of 2W speakers.
Battery and Pricing
On the battery front, the RedmiBook 13 and 14 come with a 40Wh battery while the RedmiBook 16 packs a 46Wh battery. The company promises a battery life of up to 12 hours for all laptops.
The base model, i.e., Ryzen 5 4500U, 8GB, 512GB SSD for RedmiBook 13,14 and 16 starts at $532 with maxed out variants going up to $730.
