Facebook has updated its Portal lineup of video calling devices with the Portal Go and Portal+. Both these machines are designed with portability in mind with a handle on top and a tilting display so you can take it anywhere with you and set it down wherever you please.
The Portal Go has a 10-inch screen with a 12MP ultrawide camera at the top for immersive video calls. It can also work as a Bluetooth speaker by connecting to any of your devices and playing your favorite music wherever you go.
The Portal+ has a bigger 14-inch screen and stereo speakers for crystal clear audio. It has the same 12MP ultrawide smart camera that can follow you around to keep you in the frame during video calls.
Other than video calling and music playback, the Facebook Portal devices also make for a digital photo frame. You can add photos from your Facebook or Instagram profile or upload an image from your camera roll. You can also share memories with friends and families through shared albums.
Starting in December, Facebook will also add support for Microsoft Teams to facilitate work from home and home education. Facebook has mentioned a “long-lasting battery” but has not revealed any precise numbers, so we will have to take their word for it.
The Portal Go and Portal+ will go for sale next month for $199 and $349 respectively.
